Busy months between innovative projects and global markets

"The past few months have been particularly dynamic for Isolcell, a company specialising in fruit and vegetable preservation technologies," reports Tito Spaldi, the company's international sales manager, who emphasises how activities have touched several geographic and multiple development areas.

"As always, we have moved a little bit all over the world," explains Spaldi, mentioning the strengthening of the company's presence in the Middle East and some major projects in Italy and Europe in particular." Among these is the collaboration with the University of Bologna, where 16 cabinets have been installed to carry out research on pears, apples and summer fruits in a DCA (Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere). This is an important step towards the study of new conservation solutions."

"Another important intervention is the start-up of the largest Italian plant, built for Agrintesa for golden kiwifruits: it boasts 44 storage units, so it is a solution that marks a new milestone for the sector. There are also projects in key markets such as New Zealand and Australia, which are increasingly active on both the apple and pear fronts."

The central theme that Isolcell is addressing concerns the evolution of skills in the warehouse and the growing demand for digital tools. "We are increasingly talking about data collection," notes Spaldi, explaining how generational change is changing the approach to plant management. "While the experience of refrigeration technicians used to be the main resource, today there is a growing reliance on technological tools and systems supported by artificial intelligence."

The new solutions proposed by Isolcell make it possible to collect, visualise and share useful data to anticipate critical situations and improve storage. It is a necessary transformation, in a context made more complex by extreme climatic events, which directly affect the quality and physiology of products.

Sponsorship and major events
Alongside its commercial and project activities, Isolcell has also strengthened its international visibility through sponsorships and prestigious partnerships. Over the past few months, the company has been a protagonist at the Interpera Congress (June, Hasselt - Belgium), it was Platinum Sponsor at the CAMA International Controlled and Modified Atmosphere Conference (May, Wenatchee - Washington, USA) and will be one of the sponsors of the international Postharvest Management of Mediterranean Crops congress (POSTHARVESTMED), organised by Società di Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana (SOI) and to be held in Palermo from 17 to 19 September.

Asia Fruit Logistica: a rapidly evolving market
After visiting the Hong Kong fair, Spaldi emphasises the liveliness of the Asian market: "There is a lot of demand and the cold chain is becoming increasingly important. Countries traditionally associated with wet markets (open-air markets dedicated to the sale of perishable goods, ed.) are equipping themselves with modern facilities, driven also by the growing value of tropical fruits such as mangoes, avocados and papayas.

"The fair saw a strong Chinese presence and many quality business meetings. It is an event where only trained operators with clear objectives are present. There are no what I call 'tourists' just browsing around." In addition to the stands, the manager also speaks of the parallel events and meetings organised outside the exhibition, confirming a rapidly growing area.

Towards Fruit Attraction
Now the focus shifts to Madrid, as Isolcell will return to Fruit Attraction after a few years with a dedicated stand and a team of three salesmen. "We decided to go back because many customers told us they missed us," Spaldi explains.

There will be no product launches, but the company will introduce its new corporate video, designed to communicate with markets where Isolcell technology is still little known. "Today, it is essential to focus on image: brochures and traditional materials are no longer enough," Spaldi concludes.

Isolcell will be attending Fruit Attraction 2025 (30 September-2 October) in Hall 10 - Stand 10G38.
