Agricultural representatives from Europe and North America gathered in Lake Como, Italy, for the 41st edition of the North America–EU Agricultural Conference. The event was hosted by Italian organisations Confagricoltura, CIA Agricoltori Italiani, Coldiretti, and the Alliance of Italian Agricultural Cooperatives.
The conference brought together Copa-Cogeca from the European Union, the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), and the Mexican National Agricultural Council (CNA). The forum served as a platform to exchange views on shared challenges and to examine the future of agricultural cooperation.

Key discussion areas
Discussions centred on food security and the reliability of supply chains in a volatile global environment. Sustainability was another main theme, with participants focusing on how agriculture can reduce its environmental footprint while adapting to extreme weather conditions and improving efficiency.
Innovation and competitiveness were also highlighted, with debate around the role of technology and trade in maintaining viable farm businesses and supporting rural areas. The conference reaffirmed the importance of rules-based trade, stressing transparent standards and the free exchange of goods and knowledge.

Future outlook
The meeting also considered policies aimed at strengthening resilience in the agricultural sector and supporting generational renewal in farming communities. While participants noted the differences between European and North American production systems, they recognised shared objectives such as supplying safe and affordable food and supporting rural economies.
The next North America–EU Agricultural Conference will be hosted in Mexico in 2027.
