São Paulo orchards prepare for Brazilian mango season

The season in Monte Alto and Taquaritinga (São Paulo) is approaching, and after a year of crop losses and high temperatures, growers are more optimistic about the 2025/26 harvest. Despite lower temperatures and frost episodes between late August and early September, orchards have not been significantly affected in their development.

September recorded below-average rainfall, but precipitation during the last week of the month provided some relief. In isolated areas, daily totals exceeded 30 millimeters. This rainfall is expected to support fruit set in orchards where development is already advanced.

Following these rains, growers' main concern will be orchard monitoring, as the incidence of bacterial disease may increase and affect production results in the coming months.

Regarding production, the final destination is not yet defined. Growers may supply either the fresh market or the processing industry, depending on volumes available in other regions and the overall quality of orchards in São Paulo.

The first areas in the state are expected to supply the domestic market from the second half of October, beginning with the Tommy variety. Volumes are projected to increase in November with the arrival of Palmer.
