Earlier this year, a new post-harvest coating was launched, significantly extending the shelf-life of citrus items like mandarins, Navel oranges, and lemons. The coating, called Flair S1, not only extends shelf-life, but also creates a product shine that customers associate with high-quality produce and freshness. "For the supplier, this coating is easier to handle, apply, and dry compared to all other post-harvest products in the market, providing opportunities to cut operational costs," says Julianna Shade with Fresh Formulaics. "In addition, Flair S1 is a safe, plant-based solution that allows suppliers to eliminate conventional wax."
Customer feedback
While the product was launched only about six months ago, customer feedback has been very positive. "They consistently highlight three key product benefits," Shade commented. "The enhanced shine and longer shelf-life are the first two. In addition, growers and shippers appreciate the ability to reduce drying tunnel temperatures for improved efficiency. Customers have also shared they value the recent operational improvements, particularly the added flexibility in daily routines and the convenience of receiving the product premixed, eliminating the need for extra equipment or additional staff in their packing houses.

Fruit Attraction Madrid
Currently, Flair S1 is available to growers and shippers in Spain with additional planned launches across several countries within the EMEA region. Because the product benefits growers in many different parts of the world, Fresh Formulaics is excited to participate in Fruit Attraction Madrid from September 30 until October 2. The company will be showcasing its Flair S1 product as well as Extend EX products in Hall 3, stand B21. In addition, Will Ison, VP of Global Market Development, will be speaking at Fruit Next, Pavilion 5, a forum dedicated to innovation. Ison's presentation, called 'Beyond Wax: The Plant-Based Future of Post-Harvest Care', is scheduled for 3:30 pm on September 30th.
Early access
"We are also looking forward to promoting our Field Formula Foundry program in Madrid," shared Shade. This program gives suppliers early access to breakthrough coating technology, hands-on technical support, and exclusive commercial benefits. In return, Fresh Formulaics gains real-world insights and advocacy needed to bring these innovations to market faster. "We are very much looking forward to spending time with our current customers and expanding our network with new partners," concluded Shade.
